Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao is a public health researcher and health economist currently working at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University, Vietnam. She is also serving as Secretary General of the Asian Health Literacy Association (AHLA).

Her research focuses on health literacy, digital health literacy, health economics, health technology assessment (HTA), health-related quality of life, and health outcomes research. She has extensive experience conducting multidisciplinary and international collaborative studies on health literacy, chronic diseases, mental health, healthcare utilization, and health promotion.

Dr. Thao earned her Master of Science in Health Policy, Planning and Financing from Corvinus University of Budapest, Hungary, graduating with an Honour Diploma. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Health Technology Assessment at Semmelweis University, Hungary.

She has authored and co-authored more than 40 peer-reviewed scientific publications in international and national journals, including papers published in Value in Health, Frontiers journals, JMIR Public Health and Surveillance, International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, and BMJ Open. Her work has received numerous national and international awards, including the Best Oral Presentation Award at the 10th AHLA International Health Literacy Conference and recognition for outstanding scientific achievements from the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam.
