Dr. Tran Binh Thang is a public health researcher, health economist, and academic leader at Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University. He currently serves as Assistant to the Dean for International Relations and Scientific Research at the Faculty of Public Health and leand leads the Health Technology Assessment and Health Economics (V-HTA Lab).
He received his Master’s and PhD degrees in Cancer Control and Population Health from the National Cancer Center Graduate School of Cancer Science and Policy, Republic of Korea. His research focuses on health economics, health technology assessment, cancer control, quality of life measurement, health financing, behavioral risk factors, and public health policy.
Dr. Thang has authored more than 100 scientific publications, including over 40 papers indexed in Scopus and Web of Science. His work has been published in leading international journals such as PLOS ONE, Scientific Reports, BMC Public Health, Nicotine & Tobacco Research, and Expert Review of Pharmacoeconomics & Outcomes Research.
He has led and collaborated on numerous national and international projects funded by organizations including UNFPA, USAID, Fred Hollows Foundation, SEAOHUN, and international academic partners. His current research focuses on health technology assessment, financial toxicity among cancer patients, HPV vaccination, cervical cancer prevention, mental health, and economic evaluation of health interventions.
Dr. Thang serves on the editorial boards and reviewer panels of several international journals and actively contributes to evidence-informed health policy development in Vietnam.
